The proponent groups (PGs) of the Department of Agriculture- Philippine Rural Development Project under Enterprise Development Component (DA-PRDP I-REAP) underwent a Leadership and Governance Training on May 20-21, 2025 at a venue in Tagbilaran City to prepare them in managing the operation of their respective enterprise projects.

These PGs from the various municipalities of Bohol who are recipients of enterprise projects of PRDP were the Poblacion Norte Bicao Katipunan Guadalupe Buenavista Multi-purpose Cooperative (PNB-KBG MPC) of Carmen, Bohol Native Chicken Growers Association (BONACGA) of Sevilla, First Consolidation Cooperative Along Tanon Seaboards (FCCT) and Guio-ang Agrarian Community Beneficiary Cooperative (GARCBC) of Guindulman, of which their projects are cassava processing, feeds processing, highland vegetable consolidation and processing enterprises respectively

According to Jose Redeem Pedoche, the Organizational Development Officer (ODO) of DA-PRDP RPCO 7, there is no exact measurement and timeline for sustainability. However, these PRDP partners must understand that leadership and governance are ingredients for projects’ sustainability.
In his presentation, Pedoche explained clearly the aspects of leadership and governance and the importance of planning, organizing, controlling, as well as the overall execution in operating the enterprise. There’s a need to carefully consider the readiness and participation of the members in the organization, a clear decision-making, policies, risk management and operational challenges to ensure the organizations’ legal personality and standing, most especially in record-keeping.

The second day provides the participants with refresher on the project objectives, reiterating its value in solving specific chain gaps, generating economic opportunities for farmers, and achieving sustainability of rural enterprises. They were also given pointers on the evaluation tools of PRDP to better understand and appreciate the monitoring process for them to prepare the full operation of their businesses.
