IN PHOTOS | Students from the Cebu Institute of Technology University (CIT-U) paid a visit to the Department of Agriculture Central Visayas Regional Field Office 7 (DA7) to present and test their newly developed prototype equipment designed to determine the ripeness and sweetness of mangoes.
The students’ research focuses on employing non-invasive methods to analyze the quality of Carabao mangoes by assessing their optical properties.
Several mangoes were tested using their prototype equipment, which they presented to DA7’s Regional Crop Protection Center (RCPC) Chief Bienvenido Acabal Jr., together with Mark Gerald Rosal of the Mango Rehabilitation Project.
The prototype equipment would be a potential breakthrough for the Mango Rehabilitation Project Team in their future field operations, as this will provide a quick and objective assessment of mango ripeness.
