Presided by DA7 Regional Executive Director Angel C. Enriquez, some eleven attached agencies and bureaus under the DA umbrella presented their programs and activities related to Food Safety, which is vital in achieving a secured and safe food production for the region.
DA-Agricultural Training Institute-7 (DA-ATI7) Center Director, Dr. Gracia Arado, in her welcome message emphasized the importance of collaboration, and that there’s a need to be open hearted and minded for a successful program implementation.
Director Enriquez, as the presiding officer shared to the member agencies on what had transpired during the Wednesday (April 23, 2025) visit of the top officials, particularly on the launching of the P20 Rice Project.
She said, “as agencies under the DA, you need to know and be able to explain about the P20 Rice Project, which will be implemented for the targeted vulnerable sectors like the senior citizen (SC), person with disabilities (PWDs), solo parent and 4Ps, among others.
It was also shared and discussed the conduct of a food safety summit, wherein member agencies were asked to identify and recommend Local Government Units (LGUs).
“The Food Safety Act in the country is now on its 12th year, but DA was able to implement it only in 2018, shared Dr. Mayolyn Majaducon, chief of DA7’s Regulatory Division.
Member agencies who presented their programs related to Food Safety were PCA, BFAR, NDA, PCIC, BPI, PHILRICE, ATI, NIA, NFA, FPA and RAFC.
Director Enriquez, added that the programs and activities of the agencies are inter-related and there’s a need to align all these activities towards achieving food security.
