IN PHOTOS | In a concerted effort to develop standards in farming infrastructure, the DA 7 – Regional Livestock Program, in coordination with the Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (BAFE), conducted a Design Assessment for Goat Multiplier Facilities in Central Visayas. The region currently leads the country in goat inventory and production, making it an ideal area for piloting standardized infrastructure.

The assessment focused on gathering data, measurements, best practices, and insights essential for developing a standardized goat house design suitable for nationwide implementation. Emphasis was placed on the importance of structural consistency, biosecurity, and climate resilience in livestock housing.

As part of the assessment, the team visited prominent Goat Multiplier Farms known for their operational excellence and innovative practices: Jeffins Goat Farm in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Sabby’s Goat Farm and Jungle Lord Ranch in Danao City, Cebu, and Barili Dairy Goat Farm and Cara Integrated Goat Farm in Barili, Cebu. These farms served as models for studying effective facility design and management practices that could shape future standards for goat housing prioritizing animal welfare that ultimately contributing to higher productivity.
