Personnel from the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM) paid a courtesy visit to the DA-Central Visayas (DA7) represented by Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations Wilberto O. Castillo, today, June 19, 2024, discussing the the Adaptive Balanced Fertilization Strategy (ABFS) that started the implementation last 2023. They also requested for an assistance on the conduct of technology demonstration for a 15 hectares corn production this cropping season. Part of the demo is to provide technical briefing and capacity enhancement to the farmer beneficiaries.
The techno demo will happen on June 27, 2024, at Barangay Sagay, Toledo City, City.
Dir. Castillo, on behalf of the department, affirmed the full support of DA for farmers to be knowledgeable of the different agricultural developments and the Secretary’s directive to increase production and aim food security for all.
Aside, the ABFS goal was to promote nutrient recycling to address the decline in soil fertility, decrease fertilizer cost, improve fertilizer use efficiency and soil health to enhance crop productivity and climate resiliency
