The Department of Agriculture Central Visayas (DA7) turned over today, February 28, 2025, some agri-fishery projects with a total worth of P 261, 238,198.00 in Jagna, Bohol.
The turnover, led by Regional Executive Director (RED) Angel C. Enriquez, was received by the Local Government Unit of Jagna, represented by Mayor Joseph A. Rañola.
The turnover of project certificates were on infrastructures, equipment and production support. These projects include, a unit nursery worth ₱499,463.68 and the Naatang Spring Development project valued at ₱699,853.22 under the National Organic Agriculture Program (NOAP); a Canal Extension for the Capahan Spring Development, worth ₱1,972,854.34, a hauling truck, a post-harvest facility building, a rice mill, and a recirculating dryer, totaling ₱11,500,000 funded under the National Rice Program (NRP).
Also, under the NRP interventions were the fertilizer discount vouchers (FDV),
soil ameliorants worth ₱483,530.00, biofertilizers worth ₱623,037.75, and inorganic Fertilizers worth ₱1,416,673.00.
In addition, Jagna was also awarded a contract for the development of a potable water system under the DA- Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) IBUILD Component valued at ₱244,042,785.80.
This PWS will help improve the water supply system, benefitting local communities.
Mayor Rañola expressed his gratitude to DA7 and DA-PRDP for the initiatives in providing projects for his locality. He said that these efforts, particularly the PWS would address the long-standing issue of safe water and significantly improve the town’s agricultural production, contributing to the overall progress and development of both the province and the region.
Director Enriquez, in her message, expressed optimism about the impact of these projects in boosting the region’s agricultural capabilities and economic sustainability.
“The government is doing its best to ensure that there will be food on the table for every Filipino. There will be enough vegetables, fish, and meat. If there are any issues, such as diseases affecting pigs or chickens, please report them immediately to the authorities. I also hope that these agri-fishery initiatives will be replicated in other parts of the province,” she said.
