The Department of Agriculture- Central Visayas (DA7) in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Dumanjug, Cebu through the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) conducted a Gender-based Information Caravan cum Bagong Pilipinas Townhall (BPTH) Meeting on Agriculture held at Dumanjug Plaza Kiosk, Dumanjug, Cebu.
 
The BPTH is part of a nationwide initiative of promoting the new brand of governance which is Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines) and to bring government programs and services closer to its clienteles and stakeholders.\
 
DA7 Senior Science Research Specialist Norberto Ouano, said that farmers and fishers need to be well-informed on the various programs and projects of the government.
 
Topics presented to the 100 farmer participants include the DA 4-year Plan, farm clustering and consolidation as well as enterprise development, updates on the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA), common pests and diseases, soil testing and analysis, insurance coverages of the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation Programs and credit windows and opportunities of thr Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC).
 
Farmers had the chance to ask questions during the open forum, guided by their Municipal Agricultural Officer, Alicia Mamolang.
 
Isaac S. Cambalon, the Sanguniang Bayan Committee Chairperson for Agriculture, delivered a message on behalf of Dumanjug Municipal Mayor Efren Guntrano Z. Gica, shared his journey as a farmer and a father who supported his children’s education. His story serves as a testament to the importance of agriculture, and he assured the continued support for the agriculture sector.
