DA7, LGU-Canlaon Aggie conduct damage assessment on crops and livestock due to eruption
The Department of Agriculture-Central Visayas (DA7) in collaboration with the City Agriculture Office (CAO) of Canlaon City conducted sites validation to assess the extent of crops and livestock damage due to the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon.
 
According to Andrea Canoy, the City Agriculturist of Canlaon said the volcanic eruption causes minimal damage in agricultural commodities.
 
Crops like cabbage, bell pepper and other highland vegetables were affected with the ashfalls. There is no reported mortallity on livestock.
 
However, she said their concerns right now are on forages for the livestock since the nappier grasses (animal feed) are affected with the ashfalls.
Barangays most affected are Pula, Masulog and Linothangan.
