A Gender-based Information Caravan on Agriculture and Fisheries cum Bagong Pilipinas Town Hall (BPTH) Meeting was held today, May 8, 2025 in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental, spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture-Central Visayas (DA7), in collaboration with the Local Government Units (LGUs) of Bayawan, Basay, and Sta. Catalina, as part of the farmers’s and fisherfolk’s month celebration.
The BPTH is being initiated nationwide to promote the new brand of governance of the administration, with the slogan “Bagong Pilipinas” or the New Philippines and bring government services from various government entities closer to the people.
DA7 Field Operations Division Chief Dr. Gerry S. Avila, during his message highlighted the importance of information in the lives of our farmers and fisherfolk.
This activity, Avila said is an avenue to get information not only on DA but also from other attached agency and the Philippine Crops Insurance Corp. (PCIC) as well as share agri practices to move together.
“We have to make use of the information because the more information we have, the more productive we can be. Education is a learning process and as we go along, we progress and do things together”, Dr. Avila added.
Representatives from the DA and its attached agencies shared their programs, activities, and projects that are beneficial to the farmers and fisherfolk present during the activity.

Agencies present shared their programs, activities, and projects (PAPs) that will benefit the farmers and fisherfolk include DA7, Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), PCIC, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), PhilMech, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), PhilRice and Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC).
