DA7 capacitates NegOr and Siquijor LGUs on Disaster Risk Reduction MIS, encourages to submit accurate data
Representatives from the provinces of Negros Oriental and Siquijor composed of municipal agriculturists, agricultural officers, extension workers and staff from the provincial agriculture and veterinary offices attended a workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction Management Information System (DRRMIS) held on June 26-27, 2024, at a venue in Dumaguete City, conducted by the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Division (PMED) of the Department of Agriculture-Central Visayas (DA7).
The second batch of DRRMIS workshop, around 80 participants were oriented on the MIS for them to familiarize the different features of the system, as well as equip them with the protocol and timeline of reporting. This also include the digitalization and harmonization of the damage and losses of reporting system, especially during calamities and disaster.
DA7 OIC Regional Executive Director Cirilo N. Namoc, in his message said, there is a need for the Local Government Unit (LGU), being the partners of DA, to be trained on the importance of data gathering and collection, to include the formulation of a more reliable and accurate data, especially on agricultural damages and losses. A reliable and realistic data also mean an accurate report and a better analysis, said Director Namoc.
The report will serve as basis in identifying and providing appropriate projects for implementation.
Director Namoc added the need to provide quick data when a calamity or disaster strikes. Digitilization of data is very important nowadays. In addtion, he emphasized the three Cs which are convergence, collaborate and coordinate.
DA7 PMED Chief Elvin Milleza, shared on the importance of having a harmonize data especially on damage assessment. With an MIS, we can have a real time and quick data of reporting system.
