The Department of Agriculture-Central Visayas (DA7) distributes fuel subsidy discount (FDV) cards to some 756 farmers in the different areas of Cebu held last July 9-11, 2024.

Of these 757 farmers, 388 were from Bantayan Island, 26 from Daanbantayan, 65 from San Remigio, 19 from Medellin, 6 from Tabuelan, 79 from Bogo City, 18 from Tuburan, 115 from Badian, 20 from Alegria, 14 from Dumanjug, and 6 from Ginatilan.

The FDV beneficiaries are members of the farmer cooperatives and organizations (FCAs) who had received fuel-powered agri-machinery from DA7. Each farmer received an FDV card loaded with an amount P 3,000.00.

Lavinia Corpus, the Regional Corn Program Focal and John Dennis Ranario, the Regional High Value Crops Development Program Focal, in their respective message, said the fuel subsidy supports the mechanization program of DA to increase production yield, ensure food safety, and promote agricultural development.

In an interview with the farmer beneficiaries, they expressed their gratitude to DA for the support given, that the fuel subsidy is enough to lessen farming cost.

“Dako kaayo ko’g pasalamat sa DA nga gihatagan mi og fuel subsidy kay dako kaayo ni’g tabang ilabi na nga naa mi corn shredder ug sheller, dili nami mogasto sa pagpalit og gasolina o krudo kay aduna naman mi hinabang gikan sa region,” said Maria Cabañog, former president of Anao Farmer Association in Ginatilan, Cebu.

She was also grateful for the other interventions from DA7 to include Solar Panel Irrigation System (SPIS), seeds and fertilizers.

Farmer beneficiaries were duly registered in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) for them to avail of DA7 interventions.
