IN PHOTOS | With the paid visit of the Department of Agriculture-7’s Management Committee (DA7’s ManCom) to Siquijor Governor Jake Vincent Villa, Regional Executive Director Angel C. Enriquez, in her talk campaigned for support and strengthening of the agri sector in the province, with the influx of the local and foreign tourism in the province. A vibrant agri sector, she said the province can cater to the increasing needs of agri commodities like high value vegetables (lettuce) which is the need of the resorts, as well as the beef cattle. The province will no longer have to import vegetables since production is already here.
Gov. Villa was grateful to DA for the support extended to his province, adding that their food production is a big challenge. However, with the support of DA, they can somewhat provide the food needs of his constituents.
Representative Zaldy Villa proudly said that Siquijor is now a 3rd class province from being a 5th class, and that poverty incidence is currently at a one digit compared to the two digits in 2018. He further shared that Siquijor is 0% debt or free from debt.
