Badian has vast farmlands, with varied agricultural commodities, one of which is vegetables.
Evangeline O. Jorillo, a vegetable farmer, expressed gratitude to DA7 and the local DA-LGU for selecting their community in this knowledge engagement.
“Nakita nila nga nanginahanglan kami og giya sa bag-ong teknolohiya sa pagpanguma. Sa mga pamaagi nga gitudlo kanamo, dakong ikatabang nga muusbong pa ang among produksyon sa pagpanguma og mga utanon ug mutaas ang among income sa among mga abot,” Jorillo stated.
(They saw that we really need guidance on new farming technologies. The methods they taught us will greatly help increase our vegetable production and our income from our harvests.)
“Dako akong pasalamat sa kasalukuyang administrasyon ug sa DA Region sa ilang pagtagad namong mga mag-uuma nga wala kami pasagdi.”
(I am deeply thankful to the current administration and to DA Region for their engaging their time to be with the farmers, and that they never neglect us.)
The farmers were able to receive some bio-control agents, IEC materials and seeds (courtesy of DA-LGU).

n an interactive technology exchange with the thirty (30) vegetable farmers in Badian, Cebu, agricultural experts from the Department of Agriculture-Central Visayas (DA7) and Office of the Provincial Agriculture (OPA) mentored these farmers, who are members of the Taytay Hillyland Farmers Association and the Cang-Ungos Upland Farmers Association with appropriate vegetable production techniques to enhance and increase yield and income.

From the knowledge exchange, the team provided the farmers with technologies, to include cultural management, proper soil gathering for soil analysis, pest and diseases management and control, as well as farm record keeping.
