Thirty-five members of the Paraiso Pagtinabangay Farmer’s Association (PPFS) in Mabini Bohol, an AMIA Village established by the Department of Agriculture-Central Visayas through the Adaptation, Mitigation, and Initiative in Agriculture (DA7 AMIA) conducted a three-day Community-Based Enterprise Development Processing Training on June 3-6, 2024.

 

With the training, the PPFS who is adopting the Rice-based Farming System will have an opportunities for diversified agricultural livelihoods.

 

Members were trained on banana chips, kamote chips, and mixed porridge which consist of soybeans, monggo, dried squash, and dried malunggay.

 

Before the training, Rachelle Madrigal, the Gender and Development support staff discussed the concept and principles of Gender and Development (GAD), the basic food safety, and basic proper food handling, of which these topics will help empower the group. GAD is the entry point of achieving transformation, that in the food value chain system, gender equality and equity must be considered.

 

The training will help transform the communities of becoming a climate resilient business enterprise as it provides practical knowledge and opportunities.
