To equip the farmer cooperatives and associations (FCAs) from Negros Oriental and Siquijor with business knowledge and skills, the Department of Agriculture-Central Visayas (DA) through the Farm and Fisheries Clustering and Consolidation (F2C2) conducted a 3-day training on Financial Management and Value Chain Analysis from March 18-20, 2025, held at a venue in Negros Oriental.

Around 30 officers and members from the 10 invited FCAs attended the training, of which two (2) are from Siquijor, namely Timabon Farmers Association, and Siquijor Island Fish Growers Association, and eight (8 ) from NegOr which are Sibulan Farmers and Fisherfolks Agricultural Cooperative (SIFAFISACO), Dumaguete City Urban Growers Association Federation, Jimalalud Cacao Coconut and Coffee Farmers Association (JICCCOFA), Pamplona Abaca Coconut Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Bayawan City Coconut Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Tambulan-Tambo Farmer Irrigators Association (TATAFIA), Trinidad Farmers Association, Southern Negros Agri-Fisheries Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SONAMCO).

Angelina Bondad, the resource speaker discussed the topics on Book Keeping, Simplified Financial Management, Financial Statement Preparation, Value Chain Development, and Financial Statement of owner’s equity, among others.
Elorde Baroy, SIFGA President shared the importance of financial management in their association.
“Kinahanglan gyud nga adunay insaktong pagdumala sa kwarta sa grupo aron kini mapalambo ug mapadako ang profit sa negosyo. Ug pinaagi usab sa proper financial handling mamahimo usab nga lig-on ang usa ka association kay transparent man ang pagsulod ug gawas sa kwarta”, Baroy said.
(There’s a need to properly manage the financial resources of the group for it to grow and earn profit. With proper financial handling, the group will becomes strong as it keeps the financial flow transparent.)
