The Department of Agriculture – Central Visayas (DA-7), through the Adaptation and Mitigation Initiatives in Agriculture (AMIA) Program, Climate Resilience Agriculture Office (CRAO), and Siquijor Research and Development Center (SRDC), conducted a rollout of the AMIA Decision Support Tools (DSTs) to the six (6) Local Government Units (LGUs) and two (2) AMIA Villages on March 19, 2025, in Poblacion, Siquijor, Siquijor.

The DST roll out gathered the farmer-beneficiaries of the AMIA Village 1 in Tubod, San Juan,Siquijor and AMIA Village 2 in Timbaon, San Juan, Siquijor, and the Municipal Agricultural Offices from Larena, Siquijor, San Juan, Lazi, Maria and Enrique Villanueva.
Participants were engaged in an interactive session to familiarize themselves with the AMIA DSTs, which are instrumental in agricultural planning and decision-making.
Antonio Tangayan, Jr., DA7’s Science Research Specialist II, emphasized the significance of the tools, the Climate Information System, and the Agro-Climatic Advisory Portal (ACAP), as it provide the farmers with real-time climate-related data, enabling them to make well-informed decisions in response to changing weather patterns.
The rollout is a significant step of empowering Siquijor farmers and fishers with knowledge and technology, for them to make decisions, enhance farming techniques, and improve climate resilience, and mitigate the impacts of extreme weather conditions.
Meanwhile, Ray Michael Barbosa from the DA-CRAO presented the National Color-Coded Agricultural Guide (NCCAG) Map, that will help the farmers in identifying naturally suitable crops for specific areas.
The NCCAG Map serves as a reference for selecting appropriate adaptation measures based on prevailing hazards like landslide, erosion, extreme wind, drought, sea level rise, storm surge, salt water intrusion. and flooding.
