Some farmer-members of the Cebu Organic Organic Agriculture Cooperative (COAC) underwent a three-day pre-assessment and Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) coaching and mentoring session this week.
Personnel of the Organic Agriculture Program (OAP) of the Department of Agricutlure-Central Visayas (DA7) mentored the COAC members who are interested to apply for PGS accreditation based on their chosen commodity or scope.
The mentoring and coaching by the Regional Pre-Assessment Team (RPAT) will help prepare the farmers and fix any errors in their methods and practices, as well as fill-in any existing gaps to make them ready for the actual farm inspection.
COAC members mentored were from Borbon, Tabogon and Cebu City, to include Anna Mae Montebon of Masters Dragon Peak Farm and Jerald Paul of Bounti Paul Farm from Borbon; Ronilo Montejo of Tabogon; Dina Craven (represented by Daisy Siglos of Hat Lady Farm) and Macuel Panaligan of The Doctors’ Green Pharm of Cebu City. These practitioners presented their diverse range of crops, livestock, and ruminants intended for organic certification.
