The Department of Agriculture-Central Visayas (DA7) concluded the National Women’s and Rabies Awareness Month, with a recognition of senior women employees of the agency, as well as the animal welfare partners, held at the DA7 regional office during the flag raising ceremony today, March 31, 2025.
DA7 Regional Executive Director Angel Enriquez, emphasized the crucial role of women in the agriculture sector. “I would like to commend all the women of DA. Being a woman, especially in DA, is not easy. You have to balance your role as a wife, a mother to your children, and as an employee. It is a difficult task, but I firmly believe that a woman can be successful with a man by her side.
She also shared her reflection on success and love. “When you are a woman of success, sometimes, you experience failure in love. For those who are lucky in both love and life, when you have a man who truly loves you—sana all. But I believe the time will come when a woman will know who ‘the one’ is—not the men. Of course, I remind everyone, not just today or this month, to always appreciate the women in their lives. For those who have a special woman in their life, don’t forget to say ‘I love you’ to her”, Director Enriquez added.
In his welcome message, DA7 Regional Technical Director (RTD) for Research and Regulations, Dr. Wilberto Castillo, emphasized the importance to recognize women in the department.
“Today, we acknowledge the invaluable contributions of the senior women—not just in age, but in experience. As the saying goes, ‘experience is the best teacher,’ and our senior women are the best mentors. They inspire not only by paving the way for younger generations in the department but also by setting standards in agriculture and bringing the institution to greater heights,” RTD Castillo said.
He also underscored the significance of inclusivity in celebrations. “While we give due recognition to women, we must also be fair and consider the role of men,” he added.
DA7 RTD for Operations, Engr. Cirilo Namoc, acknowledged the contributions of women and the regulatory division in raising awareness about rabies prevention.
“To all the women, thank you for the great things you have done for us. As we celebrate Women’s Month and conclude the Rabies Awareness Month, I extend my congratulations to our partners—LGUs, Southwestern University (SWU), and our regulatory team—for a successful celebration throughout March,” RTD Namoc expressed.
Dr. Mayolyn Majaducon, the chief of the Regulatory Division, extended her gratitude to the department’s partners for their support in the month-long National Rabies Awareness Month activities. Among the key partners were the veterinary offices of Lapu-Lapu City and Mandaue City, Southwestern University Phinma College of Veterinary Medicine, Cebu Technological University (CTU) Barili, and the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) Central Visayas.
“Today is not just another day—it’s an opportunity to reflect on the incredible work we accomplished together. We celebrate the unwavering commitment of our partners, including Dr. Janice and Dr. Phil from SWU, as well as the president of the SWU Student Association. We appreciate the participation of 42 private sector representatives from various groups,” Dr. Majaducon stated.
As part of the culmination of National Women’s Month, Nathaniel Dela Viña serenade the 32 women of DA7 for their ability to balance both reproductive and productive roles while actively engaging in community service as empowered “Juanas.” The youngest and eldest women in the workplace were also recognized.
