As part of the Farmers and Fisherfolk Month (FFM), the Department of Agriculture-Central Visayas (DA7) in Mandaue City, Cebu celebrated today, May 15, 2024, a Pista sa Nayon for the Feast of St. Isidore Labrador, with a Kadiwa Retail.
Some 11 farmer associations, agripreneurs and a Young Farmer Challenge (YFC) awardee joined the activity, displaying their produce and products for the public to purchase.
St. Isidore is the patron saint of the farmers and rural communities.Annually, the regional office and some rural areas celebrate the Feast of St. Isidore as way of thanksgiving for the good agriculture harvest and bounty.
DA7 Regional Technical Director Wilberto Castillo, acknowledged the support of Regional Executive Director Angel C. Enriquez, for the various activities in line for the FFM. He shared the life’s history of St. Isidore, who is known for his generosity to the poor, as well as animals, and had live in contenance.
RTD Castillo, said the government is giving importance to the role of the farmers, and somewhat like St. Isidore, they share whatever little things they have to other people. We see the generosity of the farmers during our field works.
Farmer Director Grace Cenas, acknowledged the exhibitors who participated in the event. She emphasized the importance of agricultural technologies for the farmers to adopt, for them to increase their production yield and income.
