The Department of Agriculture-Central Visayas (DA7) through the Rice Program continued the roll-out of the Fertilizer Discount Vouchers (FDV) distribution in the southern municipalities of Cebu.

A total of 243 rice farmers received inorganic fertilizers and biofertilizer with a total cost of P421,027.00, covering a combined rice areas of 123.825 hectares. Of these 243 farmers, 72 were from Moalboal, 60 from Alcantara, 27 from Ronda, 38 from Alegria and 46 from Dumanjug, as support to their rice cropping activities for dry season.

Rosela Georpe, who represented the Gagmayng Mag-uuma sa Bullogan (Small Farmers of Bullogan) of Dumanjug, expressed her gratitude to DA for the farm inputs support and the valuable training and seminars they attended. The knowledge they gained from the trainings, she said, was able to empower them and maximize the benefits gained from the program. “Sa unang panahon nga menos pa ang mga assistance sa DA, minus gyud among abot, unya sa pagkakaron nga aduna nay mga trainings, mangapil gyud mi para amoa usab iapply sa amoang pag-uma. Dako gyud kaayo og natabang ang gobyerno sa among pagpanguma,” she added.
(In the past, DA’s assistance was limited and our harvests were very low. But now that we have access to training, we make sure to participate, so we can apply what we learned in our farm. The government’s support has truly made a big difference in our farming)she added.
