The Province of Bohol received today, May 17, 2024, some farm machineries worth P62-million, funded under the Department of Agriculture’s Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Mechanization Component.
The turnover of farm machineries held at Brgy. Poblacion, Carmen, Bohol were received by 28 farmers’ cooperatives and associations (FCAs) from the municipalities of Calape, Catigbian, Dagohoy, Trinidad, Ubay, Alicia, Bilar, Candijay, Carmen, Mabini and Sierra bullones.
Machineries distributed include 21 tractors, 8 walk-behind rice transplanters, 2 units recirculating dryer.
Farmer Regional Executive Director (FRED) Grace Cenas, also the Chairperson of the Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Council-7 (RAFC), in her message, said the machineries will help increase rice production, ease the farm activities as well as reduces the time spent in farming. She
encouraged the beneficiaries to use the machines efficiently and effectively, as the goal of the DA-PhilMech is to support not only the rice farmers but other farmers of their chosen commodities.
“We all know that Bohol is the primary rice producer of Central Visayas (CV), known as the rice granary of CV. Let’s strive to be more self-reliant in our farming inputs”, she said.
FRED Cenas, is also hopeful for the local food production to boost and contribute to a progressive country.
The event was also attended by Asst. Chief Engr. Domingo Miranda, APCO Bohol Roman Dabalos, Acting Provincial Agriculturist Larry Pamugas, OPA staffs, PhilMech staffs and municipal mayors.
