The Department of Agriculture-Central Visayas (DA7), through the Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng mga Kababayang Katutubo (4K) Program turned over today, June 4, 2025, some agricultural inputs to the Candabong Ancestral Land Farmers Association (CALFA), a group of Lumad farmers from the Bukidnon tribe in Manjuyod, Negros Oriental.
Distributed Agri inputs ‎include assorted vegetable seeds, plastic drums, plastic mulch, seedling trays, conventional hybrid yellow corn seeds, and organic and inorganic fertilizers.
These interventions will help improve and enhance the farming productivity of the indigenous people’s (IP) within the ancestral domain (AD).
In an interview, Lope James Palumar, the Ancestral Domain Management Office Manager and Treasurer of CALFA, expressed gratitude to the DA for the continued support in their farming activities.
‎”Kini nga interventions nga gihatag, dako na kaayo nig tabang sa among kumunidad, sa among tribung Bukidnon. Tungod pod sa intervention, ubay ubay na ang nibalik og pagpanguma diri sa Candabong, ” he stated.
(These interventions will greatly help our community,, especially to the Bukidnon tribe. Because of these inputs, many of us in Candabong returned to farming.)
‎The interventions are part of DA’s commitment in empowering the IPs, as well as promote sustainable agricultural development within the AD to increase production and income of the IP farmers.
