IN PHOTOS | The Department of Agriculture- Central Visayas (DA7), led by Regional Executive Director Angel C. Enriquez, convened the Research for Development and Extension (R4DE) today, May 7, 2025 for a consultative dialogue and to assess their performance, both physical and financial held at a venue in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

Director Enriquez was also joined by Regional Technical Directors, Engr. Cirilo Namoc and Dr. Wilberto Castillo.
Director Castillo, in his message, emphasized the need for research teams to reassess their goals and focus., underscoring also the importance of convergence and collaboration among staff.
“We need to reset our targets, re-energize our efforts, and identify the underlying causes of low yields,” he stated.
Director Angel C. Enriquez, highlighted the critical role of research in supporting farmers and ensuring food security.

“We need research now more than ever. Let us continue producing significant studies, especially those that contribute to increased income for our farmers.” she said.
In addition, Director Enriquez also challenged the team to pursue economic research on native and endemic species.
She commended ongoing projects, including indigenous feed formulation studies, and encouraged researchers to explore international studies for career and personal growth.
She called on the Operations and Research divisions to identify convergence cluster areas for this planting season and urged the team to prove their significance through impactful outputs.

“If we stop, how can we move forward? We are government employees. It is our duty to serve with respect and responsibility,” she added.
Director Cirilo N. Namoc, stressed that research outputs must be meaningful and aligned with emerging crops and commodities. “Your output is our input. The research we conduct must address the actual needs of our agricultural communities,” he said.
Namoc also advocated for prioritizing commodities per station, integrating research with operations to address persistent low yields, and leveraging digital agriculture.
Monitoring and Evaluation Section Chief Elena Rivera conducted a walkthrough on the reporting system for physical accomplishments, ensuring that project monitoring remains transparent and systematic.

Present during the activity were the DA7 Executive Committee members, research station heads and staff, research division staff, banner program coordinators and representatives, and the human resource and management section chief.
Moving forward, the research group is expected to conduct an immediate orientation and harmonization of targets to ensure alignment with the goals of the banner programs and research stations.
