Municipal and provincial agriculture and veterinary officers from Negros Oriental attended the roll-out of the Adaptation and Mitigation Initiatives in Agriculture (AMIA) Decision Support Tools (DCT) held recently at a venue inDumaguete City. Conducted by the Department of Agriculture Central Visayas through Climate Resilience Agriculture Office (CRAO), the roll out aims to empower farmers and fisherfolks with knowledge and technology for a climate resilient agriculture.

Attending the DCT roll-out were Provincial/City/ Municipal Agriculturist(s), Agricultural Technologists, and representatives from Provincial Veterinary Office.
Rae Michael Barbosa, CRAO Planning Officer said the AMIA decision support tools will help the farmers and stakeholders be informed of the weather updates.
“Makakatulong po ang mga tools na ito dahil magagamit po ito ng ating mga planners, especially LGUs para makapagbigay ng integrated and tailor-fitted support sa ating mga farmers na nakabase sa climate risk sa kanilang area. Sa pamamagitan ng LGU makakaabot sa ating mga farmers ang ating Climate Information Services (CIS) na naglalaman ng taya ng panahon, rekomendasyon at ang magiging pinsala nito sa kani-kanilang area. Meron po tayong Seasonal Outlook good for 6 months, 10-day Weather Farm Outlook and Advisories at Special Farm Weather Outlook Advisories na nag-aanunsyo tuwing may malalakas na ulan o el niño,” said Barbosa.
Tools presented include National Color Coded Agricultural Guide (NCCAG), Climate Risk Vulnerability Assessment (CRVA), Climate Information System (CIS) and Agro-Climatic Advisory Portal (ACAP).
