Some 53 swine raisers in Valencia, Negros Oriental received indemnity checks yesterday, January 30, 2025 from the Department of Agriculture-Central Visayas (DA7).
The total amount of checks distributed amounted to more than P 1.3M, as financial compensation for the hog farmers affected in the depopulation activity due to the African Swine Fever (ASF).
Amount paid to each farmer varies on the purposes of raising hogs, whether as fattener, breeder, piglet and as grower.

Christina Init, one of the recipients, expressed her gratitude to the DA for helping them recover and restart their livelihood.
(I’m very thankful for the help extended to us swine raisers, as this will help curtail the spread of the disease. We now felt the support. So thankful for the check received for us to recover.)
