Farmers from the mountain barangays of Cebu City (Sudlon II, Agsungot, Sirao, and Bonbon) who are part of the 354th to 357th batches of the Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan on Sustainable Agriculture Program (KSK-SAP) were gathered at SM City Cebu today, July 12, 2024 for the KSK-SAP launching and orientation.
 
The KSK is being spearheaded by the SM Foundation in partnership with the different government agencies and private sectors.
 
Government agencies are the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Tourism (DOT), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Local Government Unit of Cebu City, and non-government organizations (NGOs).
 
These KSK farmer beneficiaries will undergo 14 weeks of training on sustainable agriculture practices to ibclude land preparation, soil analysis, advanced technology demonstrations, urban agriculture, financial management and literacy and marketing. The goal of KSK-SAP is to develop the farmers become agri-preneurs.
 
In his message, Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations, Dr. Wilberto O. Castillo said the DA will always support this kind of initiatives that will benefit the farmers to uplift their livelihood status and foster economic growth.
 
Present also at the event was the Regional Focal Person for the DA-High Value Crops Development Program, John Dennis Ranario and staff from Cebu City Agriculture Office (CAO).
